Antenna configuration Tx1 R3 Tx2 R4 R1,R2, R5, R6 terminated in 50 ohms. Rx1 L1 Rx2 L2 Rx3 L3 Rx4 L4 Rx5 L5 Rx6 L6 Two slices in the first Crucial drive pack could not see the /dev/sdxx partition, even after re-starting. Crucial drive pack #2 was installed after shutting down the radar. Drives mounted as /d0 in all slices. Channel #2 (Rx) became intermitent and failed just before getting to the fuel stop at WAIS. In order to have the signal of at least 5 consecutive elements digitized, the antenna cables were changed to the following configuration (change performed at WAIS while re-fueling): Rx1 L2 Rx2 L1 X faulty Rx front-end. Rx3 L3 Rx4 L4 Rx5 L5 Rx6 L6 At about file 42 checked files on all slices to check that files were being recoded properly. Slice 5 shows the drive is mounted and recording, but no files on /d0. root@r3-5:root# cd /d0;ls -lah ls: reading directory .: Input/output error total 0 root@r3-5:d0# ls -lah ls: reading directory .: Input/output error total 0 root@r3-5:d0# df Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on tmpfs 44272 0 44272 0% /dev/shm tmpfs 10240 20 10220 1% /dev /dev/sda1 250027836 141428 237383824 1% /d0 This is unexpected, since the availability of space on the partition was checked just after mounting all the drives using the GUI. root@r3-5:root# fdisk -l Disk /dev/sda: 256.0 GB, 256060514304 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 31130 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 1 31130 250051693+ 83 Linux Since the other hard-drive pack was faulty as well, attempted to fix by re-mounting from the radar GUI >Mounting HDDs >Mounting drives on slice 1 Hard drive was mounted on d0. >Mounting drives on slice 2 Hard drive was mounted on d0. >Mounting drives on slice 3 Hard drive was mounted on d0. >Mounting drives on slice 4 Hard drive was mounted on d0. >Mounting drives on slice 5 Hard drive was mounted on d0. >Mounting drives on slice 6 Hard drive was mounted on d0. >Mounting drives on slice 7 Hard drive was mounted on d0. >Mounting drives on slice 8 Hard drive was mounted on d0. >Drive pack d0 mounted on all slices. Restart the radar and HDD recording. >Copying radar configuration files to local machine. >Radar configuration files copied to local machine. >The radar is now running. >Turned On HDD Recording /d0 /d0 in slice 5 sppears as mounted. Still no files recorded to on /d0. Tried changing permissions, no difference. Rebooting would cause losing survey data. Connected Rx for Ch5 into A/D 7 using a slightly longer cable.Slices 7 and 8 are recording data. Slice 7 contains the data for Rx5. While recording file 4 in the second data set Ch2 came back to life. Ch2 corresponds to L1 now. File 73, restarted the radar during a turn. Increased the blanking time slightly. File 137 increased the number of samples for the quickloook. Restarted radar. File 150, realized that Ch2 failed again. At some point Ch2 came on again. File 200 altitude increased, surface return is not being blanked and Rxs are saturated. Changed blanking Altitude changed back to 1500 ft and restored blanking to original settings. File 268, end of the line. On radar settings: Two waveforms used: Waveform 1, 2.5 usec, Attn1=Attn2=31 dB. Roughly 10 dB of Rx gain No blanking Waveform 2, 10 usec, Attn1=0, Attn2=10. Roughly 62 dB of Rx gain First blanking switch is enabled (open) 5 usec before the transmit pulse, and disabled (closed) 1 usec after the transmit pulse. Second blanking switch is enabled 3 usec before the transmit pulse and disabled (closed) between 3.5 to 5 usec after the transmit pulse.
